A(d, p)B reactions on heavier nuclei are peripheral at sub-Coulomb energies and can be peripheral even at energies above the Coulomb barrier due to the presence of the distorted waves in the initial and final channels. Usually, to analyze such reactions the distorted-wave-Born-approximation (DWBA) is used. We have derived four-dimensional relativistic three-body equations for the case of a field theory with a three-point interaction vertex. These equations describe the coupled 2{r_arrow}2, 2{r_arrow}3, and 3{r_arrow}3 processes, and provide the means of calculating the kernel of the 2{r_arrow}2 Bethe-Salpeter equation. Three-body Faddeev-Alt-Grassberger-Sandhas approach to direct nuclear reactions

Momentum-space three-body Faddeev-like equations are used to calculate elastic, transfer, and charge-exchange reactions resulting from the scattering of deuterons on {sup 12}C and {sup 16}O or protons on {sup 13}C and {sup 17}O, with {sup 12}C and {sup 16}O treated as inert cores. All possible reactions are calculated in the framework of the same model space. Comparison with previous calculations based on approximate methods used in nuclear reaction theory is made.
