Relation between the mean value and variance of the distribution of the time delays in collisions with two-particle channels

Using the analytical properties of the collision amplitude on the Riemann surface of complex values of the energy, an integral relation between the mean value and variance of the distribution of the time delays in two-particle collision channels is derived. The relation obtained is applied to the case of an isolated resonance and to the case of a series of densely overlapping resonances.
