The polythermal section Ge/sub 0.98/Te-GeSe was constructed taking into account the deviations from stoichiometry in germanium monoselenide and the existence of a ternary compound epsilon in this system. The temperature of the monovariant peritectoid reactions forming the ternary compound, and ..cap alpha..-GeTe were determined. The coefficients of thermal expansion, the elastic moduli, and the electrophysical properties of the ternary compound GeSe/sub 0.75/Te/sub 0.25/ were measured at 300 K. It was shown that GeSe/sub 0.75/Te/sub 0.25/ can be regarded as a A/sup IV/B/sup VI/ pseudocompound, which is apparently related with germanium telluride.
