Title: Metal alkoxides: models for metal oxides. Part 6. The linking of alkyne and nitrile fragments at ditungsten centers. Preparation and characterization of W/sub 2/(O-t-Bu)/sub 6/(CHCHC(Ph)N), W/sub 2/(O-i-Pr)/sub 7/(CH/sub 2/CHC(Ph)N), W/sub 2/ (OCH/sub 2/-t-Bu)/sub 6/(N(CMe)/sub 4/N)(py), and W/sub 2/(O-i-Pr)/sub 7/(NHC)Me)CHCHC(Me)N)

Abstract

The products obtained from the reaction between alkyne adducts and ditungsten hexaalkoxides and nitriles are described. This study was undertaken to determine whether a C-C bond formation or methansis reactions occurred. The data indicated that the formation of C-C bonds and additional metal-ligand bonds is favored over methasis reactions.
