Title: The Delta-t transport protocol: Features and experience useful for high performance networks

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6062443

With the advent of new high performance networks and distributed systems there is renewed interest in transport protocol designs that can support both request/response and stream styles of communication. Delta-t is a transport protocol designed to meet such goals. Delta-t's main contribution is in the area of connection management, where it achieves hazard free connection management without explicit packet exchanges. This paper reviews Delta-t's features, connection management more generally, and outlines some implementation lessons useful for high performance networks. 26 refs.
