Title: Comparison of reversible and irreversible processes during the magnetization and remagnetization of heat-treated steels

Journal Article · · Sov. J. Nondestr. Test. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

The law of change is studied for differential, reversible, and irreversible permeabilities during the magnetization and remagnetization of hardened and tempered structural steels as a function of the magnetic field strength. The character of the change with tempering temperature is correlated with the reversible and irreversible components of induction during the magnetization and remagnetization of specimens up to the same values of the magnetic field or the induction. The possibility of utilizing such magnetic characteristics to determine the structural state of heat-treated steels is discussed.
