Palladium sintering: shrinkage kinetics for a sponge powder

Pellets pressed from sponge palladium powder were sintered both isothermally and with constant heating rates using a dilatometer. Computer analysis of the data is used to determine shrinkage and shrinkage rate behavior during the sintering operation. The data are used in conjunction with metallographic examination to correlate the shrinkage phenomena to the change in grain size and pore morphology.
