Title: Corrosion behavior of metal-matrix composites. Final report, June 1985-June 1986

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6039245

Metal-matrix composites suffer from preferential corrosion because of their non-homogeneous composition and structure. In particular, aluminum alloy matrix materials are very susceptible to corrosion, when the dispersoid is a noble phase, such as SiC. This paper describes the pros and cons of what inadequate processing and fabrication can do to corrosion behavior of the composites.
