Homogeneous catalysis with compounds of rhodium and iridium
Soluble rhodium and iridium compounds are used as catalysts in a diverse range of organic syntheses. These and many related compounds are used to activate the C-C, C-H and C-O bonds, to reduce unsaturated species, to carbonylate a variety of substrates, and to make and break C-O and C-C bonds. In many of these synthetic applications, very high regio-and/or stereo-specificity is attained. Consequently, particularly rhodium compounds have become the catalyst of choice in various industrial and laboratory scale organic reactions. Details concerning such applications are examined in this wide-ranging book. Provided here is information about the catalysts that can be used for particular reactions, selectivities and reaction mechanisms. Approximately 400 diagrams, 2000 references and numerous reaction schemes are provided.
