Title: Storage battery charging and monitoring apparatus

Abstract

This patent describes a battery charging apparatus having a first output terminal and a second output terminal, for charging a storage battery having a positive electrode operatively connected to the first output terminal and a negative electrode operatively connected to the second output terminal. The apparatus consists of: 1.) a stepdown transformer; 2.) silicon controlled rectifier; 3.) a diode which has a cathode terminal and an anode terminal, a resistor connected to the cathode terminal; 4.) a second diode and a third diode, each having a cathode terminal and an anode terminal; 5.) the silicon controlled rectifier has a first silicon controlled rectifier and a second silicon controlled rectifier which both have an anode terminal connected commonly to the second output terminal; 6.) a second resistor connected between the gating terminal of the second silicon controlled rectifier and the second terminal of the transformer; 7.) a third transistor which has a collector electrode, emitter electrode and a base electrode. The anode terminal of the light emitter is connected to the collector electrode of the third transistor.
