Title: Use of detergents in coal flotation

The reagents used in coal flotation are complex, multi-component mixtures. In an aqueous medium they are characterized by a high degree of dispersion: from large micelles and emulsion droplets to the molecular level. Various mechanical methods are used to increase the efficiency of low-solubility reagents. All these methods have certain deficiencies. The simplest and most efficient method of injecting low-solubility reagents into the slurry in finely dispersed form is the preliminary injection of surfactants into the reagents, providing stable finely dispersed emulsions with very low quantities of surfactant. The dispersion reagents most widely used are technical detergents, the active part of which is sodium alkyl surfaces with a alkyl C/sub 12/-C/sub 18/ hydrocarbon chain or aryl sulfonates, containing 10 to 14 carbon atoms in a side chain. We studied the effect of certain alkylsulfonates and technical detergents of the Lotos type on the colloidal dispersion and flotation properties ons and the increasing demand for coke. The possibility of using this method to dewarformance data are presented for the Aylmer annual storage solar heated apartment building and compared with predictions using the hourly computer program. The concept of a lumped thermal network for predicting heat losses from in-ground heat storage tanks, developed earlier in the project, has beethe cased-hole log data from various companies and additional comparison factors were calculated for the cased-hole log data. These comparison factors allow for some quantification of these uncalibrated log data.
