Yield: a numerical crop yield model of irrigated and rainfed agriculture
It is hoped that YIELD may assist researchers and planners in answering crucial questions regarding the evolution of patterns and levels of food production which will be necessary to meet the expected demands associated with worldwide population increases. An analysis of future agricultural productivity has important social, economic, and political implications. Prognoses, for example, are needed with respect to the likely impacts of climatic change on food resources, irrigation requirements, international trade, and food prices. Regions that are best suited for growing certain crops also need to be identified. These and other questions suggest a need for rational and feasible methodologies capable of evaluating the response of agricultural crops to the climatic environment.
