A sequence of elementary events explaining chain propagation and the formation of the reaction products of the gas-phase oxidation of ethylene was proposed on the basis of the experimental data on the kinetics of accumulation of RO/sub 2/ and HO/sub 2/ radicals and molecular reaction products. In this work, on the basis of the experimental data on the principle of the accumulation of radicals and molecular reaction products, the elementary processes in which the active sites that may determine chain propagation and the formation of the reaction products participate are analyzed and discussed.
