Title: Distinction between Seyfert 1 and Seyfert 2 galaxies

Journal Article · · Sov. Astron. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5984114

The activity of the nuclei of Seyfert 1 galaxies could represent two-temperature disk-type accretion onto a supermassive black hole, while the activity in Seyfert 2 nuclei would correspond to the accretion regime of an optically thin disk. The parameters of such a disk are evaluated. Seyfert 2 nuclei should generate an x-ray luminosity L/sub x/ = 10/sup 42/--10/sup 43/ erg/sec, the flux declining exponentially with energy for h..nu..< or approx. =10 keV.
