Title: Measurement of the radial distributions of the thermal-power parameters at the anode of a high-current, low-pressure, arc discharge

Abstract

This work is devoted to the measurement of the thermal-power characteristics at the anode of a high-current low-pressure arc discharge with a hollow cathode in a vacuum as well as to the determination of their dependence on the parameters which determine the discharge regime. The thermal-power parameters measured include the specific heat flux and its density as well as the current density at the anode. The radial distributions of these parameters are presented and a function describing the distributions is proposed. The current of the discharge regime was varied within a 100-350 A range. The length of the arc gap, the plasma-forming gas injection rate, the diameter of the cathode cavity, and the chamber working pressure were also varied. Argon was used as the plasma-forming gas. Radial distributions were measured on a moving sectioned anode.
