Title: Chemistry of lithium alloy/iron sulfide cells

Conference ·
OSTI ID:5952373

After a brief review of the Li-Al and Li-Si alloys used as negative electrode materials in molten salt batteries, the phases formed in FeS and FeS/sub 2/ positive electrodes during cell operation are discussed, as well as the sequence of phase transitions during charge and discharge of the electrodes in molten salt electrolytes at temperatures of around 400/sup 0/C to 450/sup 0/C.
