Title: Electronically controlled automatic transmission

Abstract

This patent describes an electronically controlled automatic transmission having a manual valve working in connection with a manual shift lever, shift valves operated by solenoid valves which are driven by an electronic control circuit previously memorizing shift patterns, and a hydraulic circuit controlled by these manual valve and shift valves for driving brakes and a clutch in order to change speed. Shift patterns of 2-range and L-range, in addition to a shift pattern of D-range, are memorized previously in the electronic control circuit, an operation switch is provided which changes the shift pattern of the electronic control circuit to any shift pattern among those of D-range, 2-range and L-range at time of the manual shift lever being in a D-range position, a releasable lock mechanism is provided which prevents the manual shift lever from entering 2-range and L-range positions, and the hydraulic circuit is set to a third speed mode when the manual shift lever is in the D-range position. The circuit is set to a second speed mode when it is in the 2-range position, and the circuit is set to a first speed mode when it is in the L-range position, respectively, in case where the shift valvesmore » are not working.« less

  • This patent describes an electronically controlled automatic transmission control system for controlling an automatic transmission for a vehicle comprising: an electronic controller which receives and functions in response to input signals corresponding to the running conditions of the vehicle, such as running speed of the vehicle and degree of throttle opening and; a hydraulic controller including a fluid pressure source, shift control valves for changing over connection of the fluid pressure source to respective hydraulic servomotors of frictional engaging mechanisms which engage, release or fix components of a gear train.   • This patent describes a multiple speed ration motor vehicle transmission including a fluid operated friction device and predetermined pressure schedule for each of at least two of such speed ratios and a common electro-hydraulic actuator, where shifting between speed ratios involves energizing the actuator to supply fluid pressure to a respective friction device in accordance with a pressure command determined in relation to a respective predetermined pressure schedule, the friction device exhibiting variability with age and wear, and the actuator exhibiting a variable error characteristic for scheduled pressures in excess of a minimum pressure value.
