Electrolytic cell having improved inter-electrode spacing means
This patent describes an electrolytic cell consisting of a cell compartment and a conductive metal base. An electrically non-conductive sheet within the compartment covers and is in contact with the base. Anode members of foraminous metal are mounted within the compartment in electrical contact with the base member. The bottom portion of the anode members pass through the sheet and form a liquidtight seal separating the base member from the cell compartment and cathode members. The improvement described in this patent consists of elongated, longitudinal spacers positioned on the face portions of the anodes by extension of a portion of the spacers through open spaces in the foraminous anodes and secured on the back portion of the anodes. The spacers are fabricated of a flexible, electrically non-conductive material, inert to the conditions existing within an operating electrolytic cell. The spacers maintain a desired spaced relation the distance between the faces of the anode face members and the faces of the cathode members.
