Differential cross sections and vector analyzing powers have been measured for reactions produced by polarized deuterons in the target nucleus /sup 9/Be with emission of charged particles. A theoretical analysis is carried out in the framework of the distorted-wave method with use of a single set of optical-potential parameters in the entrance channel. Good qualitative agreement is obtained between the experimentally measured and calculated angular distributions, which permits the conclusion that there is a dominant contribution of the direct process in the mechanism of the reactions.
