Include thermal imaging in your maintenance program
Heat from friction, combustion, compression, electrical resistance or hysteresis are basic physics principles. The proper heat or cold and the effective transfer of heat is critical in processing. The loss of wanted heat or cold, or the presence or generation of unwanted heat can be detrimental to both equipment and efficiencies. The detection, surveillance and measurement of heat and/ or heat transfer can play an important part in plant maintenance and operations. Effective observation of temperatures and temperature differentials without extensive instrumentation, or under near-impossible conditions due to accessibility, is easy to deal with through thermal imaging. A knowledge and record of temperatures throughout your plant equipment and processes can and will pinpoint maintenance and process or operations problems when properly understood and applied.
