Indo-US Science and Technology Subcommission: cooperation in materials science
The Indo-U.S. materials science program is directed toward solving problems of critical importance to both countries in the highly sophisticated areas of quasicrystal phases, advanced ceramics, corrosion, tribology, hydrodynamics, laser spectroscopy, optical fibers, integrated circuits, and semiconducting materials. The program, with an investment of some $3 million, involves the participation of some of the most important institutions in both countries in its 11 major programs and 26 subprojects. Under the program's extensive exchange of scientists, several Indian scientists are now in the United States, and more are scheduled to visit. The report describes the various research projects; it does not include results or data.
