This hearing on mandatory energy conservation and gasoline and diesel fuel rationing was conducted in response to the Energy Policy and Conservation Act passed in 1975. Statements were presented from Senators Domenici, Durkin, and Johnston and from Deputy Secretary John F. O'Leary and Secretary James R. Schlesinger from the DOE. Answers to committee questions submitted to the DOE are presented in Appendix I. Appendix II contains prints of Standby Gasoline-Rationing Plan (DOE/ERA-0045); Standby Conservation Plan No. 1: Emergency Weekend Gasoline-Sales Restrictions (DOE/ERA-0040); Standby Conservation Plan No. 2: Emergency Building-Temperature Restrictions (DOE/ERA-0048); and Standby Conservation Plan No. 3: Emergency Advertising Lighting Restrictions (DOE/ERA-0049).
