Title: A reinvestigation of the violet emission bands of TiCl

Abstract

A reexamination of the violet emission bands of TiCl has indicated that this system is more complex than was previously believed. The region between 419 and 370 nm contains at least seven electronic transitions that may arise from more than one molecule. The 419 and the 387 nm system have been reanalyzed and found to be doublet-doublet transitions rather than quartet-quartet transitions as previously believed. Vibrational frequencies for each state involved in these transitions have been established.
