Title: Safety analysis report for the Triton Test Facility

This safety analysis report provides a comprehensive review of the design, construction, and operations of the Triton test facility, located in Room 1006 of Building 332. The safety of the general public, LLNL on-site personnel, and those employees working on and around the Triton facility is assessed by analyzing component failures, operator errors, accident scenarios, and resulting hazards. Appropriate design and administrative controls have been developed in the process. This report contains 13 sections and 13 appendices. Section 2 is a summary of the report together with conclusions. The Triton facility was determined to have a high-hazard classification, but it is a low-risk operation because of the controls placed on the hazards. Section 3 deals with site characteristics. Section 4 deals with principal design criteria. Section 5 presents a facility description. Section 6 deals with waste confinement and management. Section 7 presents the safety analysis. Section 8 deals with health protection. Section 9 describes the conduct of operations. Section 10 presents operational safety requirements. Section 11 deals with quality assurance. Section 12 contains acknowledgments, and the references are cited in Section 13. 10 refs., 72 figs., 5 tabs.
