Title: Design and operating considerations in selecting a circulating fluidized combustion boiler

Conference · · Energy Technol. (Wash., D.C.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5605452

Fuel prices have significantly increased over the last 10 to 15 years. Environmental regulations have been tightened. Capital available to fund energy projects is limited in most corporations. These three facts ask the question of where do we go from here. Fuel flexibility and environmental friendliness at an affordable cost are essential in the design and construction of an energy project. Circulating fluidized combustion (CFC) is a new and commercially available technology that provides a solution to these issues. CFC allows the combustion of multiple fuels. Sulfur bearing fuels, when burned in combination with limestone, provide an acceptable environmental solution.
