Overview of the US Department of Energy`s Efficient Separations and Processing Crosscutting Program and the technologies for remediation of ground and surface water
Abstract
Within the U.S. Department of Energy`s (DOE) Office of Science and Technology is the Efficient Separations and Processing Crosscutting Program (ESP-CP). This a needs driven technology development program for chemical and physical separations and separations-related processing to address DOE`s environmental restoration and waste management problems. The program is comprised of: Short-lived Radionuclides, Long-lived Radionuclides, Heavy Metals, and Waste Processing and Treatment. This paper will present an overview of the ESP-CP, past successes, and the technologies being developed to address problems throughout the DOE complex.
