The unit includes transformer converters, a capacitor, a direct current voltage source and switches. The constant of the fall time of the aperiodic current component is determined by the capacitance of the capacitor and by the total resistance of the windings of the convertors. One converter has a non-linear transmission saturation characteristic, while another has a linear transmission characteristic. In order to increase the accuracy of simulating the external short circuit condition, the device also contains a third ''current-voltage'' converter with a non-linear transmission characteristic, a direct current source, a choke and a resistor.
