Tension leg platforms (TLPS) are permanent floating systems that are primarily used for deep-water oil and gas developments. A joint industry project was recently organized to develop reliability-based equations for design of TLPS. This paper presents results of the project for global design of TLPS. The design equations were developed with partial safety factors such that each global limit state meets a certain target reliability level.
