Hospital picks EMS from 3 guaranteed savings bids

A Wheeling, WV medical center stipulated $54,000 guaranteed annual savings from all bidders when it selected an MCC Powers System 600 energy management system (EMS) from among several bidders. A DOE grant will reduce the payback period to one year. A staff energy audit was the basis for the guaranteed savings figure. Programming ease and the ability to display building systems were positive features of the System 600 besides the low bid, but visits to other facilities using the system were a major factor in the decision.
