The containment/surveillance system CONSULHA has been developed as part of the French Support Program for the IAEA Safeguards. It is a system of original design associating video surveillance with neutron and gamma activity measurement. The industrial version of CONSULHA was installed in the dry unloading workshop TO at La Hague reprocessing plant in January 1990. During the 1990-1991 campaigns, it enabled the inspection of the unloading of more than 2000 spent fuel assemblies. This paper considers: the modifications of the hardware and the software in light of this in-field experience, the results obtained during these campaigns, the future developments especially in digital video recording and image processing in order to facilitate the reviewing by the inspectors.
