The unique and groundbreaking approach of New Jersey's Environmental Cleanup Responsibility Act (ECRA) as both site-specific and transaction-specific in its application to property transfers has generated intense interest and activity throughout the nation. This paper reports that a number of states are now considering or have enacted ECRA-style laws of their own.
