On the open-circuit voltage of amorphous silicon solar cells

A theory is presented of the open-circuit voltage of amorphous silicon solar cells, based upon approximate analytic solution of the transport equations involved. For idealized material the results agree well with numerical solutions of these equations. For real material the problem is shown to be equivalent to that of calculating the injection level in a uniform, undoped sample.
