Title: Probability distribution of the time delay of the wave packet for strong overlap of resonance levels

On the basis of the theory of overlapping resonances the time development of nuclear reactions is studied for high level density. Within the framework of n equivalent channels an analytic expression is found for the probability distribution function for the time delay of the wave packet for the formation of the compound nucleus. It is shown that for a strong overlap of resonance levels the relative fluctuation of the time delay in the stage of the formation of the compound nucleus is small. The possibility is discussed of the increase of the duration of nuclear reactions with the rise of the excitation energy.
