Title: Coupling of oscillatory plasma boundary motion to an ion acoustic wave

The coupling of sheath-edge motion to quasineutral disturbances in the plasma, particularly in nonplanar geometry, is examined. A ''characteristics'' analysis is used to show that oscillatory sheath-edge motion in spherical geometry can give rise to sonically propagating, quasineutral compressions and rarefactions of number density.
