Cosmological constraint on the scale of the supersymmetric singlet Majoron
- Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland 20742 (United States)
In a supersymmetric theory with a spontaneously broken global symmetry [ital G], if the scale of supersymmetry breaking, [ital M][sub [ital s]], is smaller than the scale [ital M][sub [ital G]] of the global symmetry, the Nambu-Goldstone boson [chi] is accompanied by two massive superpartners (a fermionic [Psi][sub [chi]] and a scalar boson [sigma][sub [chi]]) with a mass of the order of [ital M][sub [ital s]]. Cosmological considerations imply stringent constraints on the couplings of [Psi][sub [chi]] and [sigma][sub [chi]]. Application of these considerations to the supersymmetric singlet Majoron model leads to an upper limit on the scale [ital V][sub [ital B][ital L]] of global U(1)[sub [ital B][minus][ital L]] symmetry to be [le]10[sup 14] GeV, for reasonable values of parameters in the theory.
