Process for making Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O superconductors

This patent describes a method for making high temperature superconductors. It comprises: grinding a mixture of a compound selected from the groups consisting of CaCO{sub 3}, CaO, a compound selected from the group consisting of BaCO{sub 3} and BaO{sub 2}, and CuO and heating the ground mixture to obtain a uniform black Ba-Ca-Cu-O powder, the powder includes a mixture of BaCO{sub 3}, CaCO{sub 3}, and CuO with a molar ratio of 2:3:3; pressing the resulting Ba-Ca-Cu-O powder into a pellet, heating the pellet; allowing the pellet to cool; placing the pellet near an amount of Tl{sub 2}O{sub 3}; heating the pellet and Tl{sub 2}O{sub 3}; and allow a resultant product to cool.
