Title: Computers and their role in energy research: current status and future needs. Hearings before the Subcommittee on Energy Development and Applications and the Subcommittee on Energy Research and Production of the Committee on Science and Technology, US House of Representatives, Ninety-Eighth Congress, First Session, June 14 and 15, 1983

Abstract

Research scientists and directors from industry, universities, national laboratories, and government spoke at a two-day hearing on their need for large-scale computers and whether federal participation in computer development is a help or a hindrance. Arguments covered the need for cooperation in industry-wide generic research in order to keep the US competitive with Japan and the importance of national laboratories, universities, and industrial contractors having access to state-of-the-art computers.
