Gamow-Teller beta decay of even nuclei near /sup 100/Sn

Using on-line separation combined with ..gamma..-ray and conversion-electron spectroscopy, decay properties of neutron-deficient isotopes were measured near /sup 100/Sn. THe Q/sub EC/ values, the excitation energies of 1/sup +/ levels, and the strength for 0/sup +/ ..-->.. 1/sup +/ Gamow-Teller ..beta.. transitions, as obtained for the decay of the even nucleu /sup 94/Ru, /sup 96//sup --//sup 100/Pd, /sup 100//sup --//sup 104/Cd, and /sup 104//sup --//sup 110/Sn, are compared with predictions from shell-model calculations including deformation, pairing and core-polarization effects. The quenching of the Gamow-Teller strength, as obtained from this comparison, is discussed.
