A procedure for the calculation of the correction factor R for global solar radiation on a horizontal surface is described. This factor is used to calculate global radiation on inclined and randomly oriented surfaces, taking into account reflectivity of the terrestrial environment. The estimated reflection coefficients of different surfaces are tabulated. The R values averaged over several months are calculated and compared with the experimental R values for various locations. The calculated average R values are tabulated versus sea level and collector inclination and orientation.
