The next expansion of geothermal power intallations will cover resources with temperatures less than 150/sup 0/C. Binary plants are the only suitable for the utilization of these resources. A modification to the conventional binary plant design is proposed here aiming at the production of more power. The new plant uses a flashing system and partial evaporation of the secondary fluid in the heat exchanger. The thermodynamic analysis shows that the proposed installation would provide approximately 25% more power than the conventional installation, a feature that makes it attractive for further technical and economic analyses.
