Conversion of synthesis gas to aromatic hydrocarbons

Synthesis gas is converted to aromatic hydrocarbons over an intimate mixture of catalysts containing a first component of ZnO-Cr/sub 2/O/sub 3/ and a second component selected from a selective class of acidic crystalline aluminosilicates. The mixed catalyst is characterized by catalytic activity for reduction of CO by H/sub 2/. The Zn:Cr ratio in the catalyst is less than about 4:1, the silica:alumina ratio is greater than 12:1, and the pore dimension of the catalyst is greater than about 5A.
