Title: High-voltage pulsed electron source with plasma emitter for radially divergent beam

Journal Article · · Instrum. Exp. Tech. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5376460

An electron source with a plasma emitter based on low-pressure arc discharge with a cold cathode is described. With an accelerating voltage of 300 kV in the single-pulse mode, a radially divergent electron beam with a current of 15 A, a duration of 100 ..mu..sec, and an area of 1.25 m/sup 2/ is produced and brought out to the atmosphere. The electron source is designed for excitation of high-pressure space discharge in switching devices.
