Title: Fine particle residential indoor air pollution

Abstract

The feasibility of a new experimental approach to documenting indoor-outdoor relationships of fine aerosol particulate constituents is tested. Measurements within three residential buildings indicate that sulfur and lead-bromine aerosols are predominantly of outdoor origin, although a secondary indoor lead source is detected. Potassium is, to a significant degree, of indoor origin. Time sequence filter sampling of aerosols and elemental analysis by proton-induced x-ray emissions are generally applicable to studies of the indoor working and living environment.
