Title: Mutual electron detachment in collisions between negative ions

Abstract

Employing the crossed-beams technique, we have measured absolute cross sections for mutual electron detachment in collisions between two negative ions [ital H][sup [minus]]+[ital X][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital H][sup 0]+[ital X][sup 0]+2[ital e][sup [minus]]([ital X][sup [minus]]:[ital B][sup [minus]], [ital H][sup [minus]],[ital Cu][sup [minus]],[ital O][sup [minus]],[ital Au][sup [minus]],[ital F][sup [minus]]) in the CM-energy range between a few keV and about 100 keV. The results obtained appear not to obey a simple scaling with negative ion binding energies. For H[sup [minus]]+H[sup [minus]]-collisions also the single detachment reaction [ital H][sup [minus]]+[ital H][sup [minus]][r arrow][ital H][sup 0]+... has been investigated.
