Layered automotive catalytic composite
This patent describes a catalytic composite for treating an exhaust gas and minimizing the hydrogen sulfide content thereof. The catalytic composite comprising a first support which is a refractory inorganic oxide selected from the group consisting of alumina, silica, titania, zirconia, aluminosilicates and mixtures thereof, having dispersed thereon at least one noble metal component selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, and iridium substantially in the absence of an oxygen storage component and having dispersed immediately thereon an overlayer separated from the noble metal component comprising at least one oxygen storage component which is an oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, cobalt and the rare earths and optionally a second support which is a refractory inorganic oxide.
