More than most comfort systems, heat pumps draw extreme reactions for and against. When they are good, they are very, very efficient; but when they are bad, they are uncomfortable and financially devastating. The trick to heat pump success lies in knowing when, where, and how to use one. The operation, performance and cost of heat pumps are discussed.
