The present study was performed to test the feasibility of combined treatment of blast-furnace blowdown and coke plant wastewater. The wastewaters were mixed and treated in a bench-scale reactor. Results indicate that blast-furnace blowdown is not toxic to the microbial population in coke-waste activated sludge and that adequate ammonia removal can be achieved by biological treatment of these combined wastewaters.
