Title: Metallic character of the electrical conductivity of tetraphenylporphyrin under conditions of high pressure and shear deformation

Abstract

Direct measurement of the electrical conductivity of tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) samples under high pressure is reported. The experiments were carried out in an apparatus of the Bridgman anvil type for pressures not exceeding 6x10/sup 3/ PMa. Shear was achieved by rotating one anvil with respect to another that was fixed at a specified angle ..cap alpha... Electrical conductivity was measured by standard methods using dc and ac bridges. Results by the two bridges agreed within 15%.
