Exact solutions of Einstein gravity coupled to a scalar field with arbitrary potential

We present a method to generate exact static solutions of the coupled Einstein--scalar-field equations with an arbitrary potential in {ital D} space-time dimensions. The spherically symmetric solutions corresponding to an exponential and a quadratic potential are explicitly derived and discussed. Some of these solutions indicate a way to circumvent the no-hair'' theorems.
