Title: Effect of bismuth on high-T/sub c/ cuprate superconductors: Electronic structure of Bi/sub 2/Sr/sub 2/CaCu/sub 2/O/sub 8/

Abstract

The electronic structure of the new Bi-based high-temperature superconductor, with T/sub c/ onsets above 110 K, is shown to be altered considerably from that of the other cuprate superconductors by the presence of Bi. There are Bi-O bands which cross the Fermi level, and the two-dimensional character of the bands is even greater than that of previous cuprates. Like the other cuprates, band critical points occur at the Fermi level
